PiezoDrive was founded in 2009 and operates as part of Newcastle Innovation Ltd., the commercial arm of the University of Newcastle.
The aim of PiezoDrive is to improve the performance of piezoelectric actuators and to facilitate the development of new piezoelectric devices and systems.
These goals are supported by a range of new piezoelectric drives that are easy to use and provide exceptional characteristics such as wide-bandwidth, high-current capacity, ultra-low noise, and mechanical robustness.
In addition to facilitating new piezoelectric technologies, these devices will improve the performance of piezoelectric actuators in a wide variety of scientific and industrial machines.
PiezoDrive technology is the result of more than eight years of research conducted by the founding engineer, Dr. Andrew Fleming. Dr Fleming has a wide and varied experience with piezoelectric systems including the development of high-voltage amplifiers and power supplies, sub-nanometer positioning systems, atomic force microscopes, and aerospace structures.
Dr. Fleming is the author of more than 80 scientific papers, 2 books and several patent applications.
